What is a VPN?
A VPN - or Virtual Private Network - is like a little tunnel through internet set aside just for the people with the keys. It provides a secure way to send data for things like private streaming events.
Amik's own VPN

United Rural Connect Project
One of our big projects involved creating a conferencing network for the United Church of Canada, for churches across the country to connect together online. This involved building a Virtual Private Network for them to they can securely conference live with anyone in the project without putting their Church's websites and information at risk.

Virtual Ticket Private Events
This system uses a VPN to keep the service secure and to allow us to limit ticket use. This is a big part of how we can offer the private streaming service in conjunction with our custom streamer and ticket system!

Where does Amik use it's VPN?

E-Tickets
If you stream it,
you can sell it.

On the surface, it should be a no-brainer: if you have the equipment to stream your events, why not sell tickets to the events the way you would to in-person events. But then you start trying to implement it, and it's more problematic than it seemed.
Even if you make the event private, people can share the link, or they require a specific account to use. Some streaming services that offer unique links charge you by the visitor, even on the re-watch. So while you might sell 50 tickets live, if another 100 watch it after the fact, you may not make as much on that event as expected.
Amik Technology decided we could resolve these issues and created a custom interface to allow for secure, single-use, online links. Each account has a dashboard with customers and events, and multiple events can be scheduled at once.
Now you can add another layer of income to your events without the risks.

Custom Countdown starts the process.
Add customer to receive the first email.
Using your account dashboard, you enter anyone who purchases an e-ticket as a customer.
The customer will receive an email confirming the event, instructions about enjoying it when it arrives, and a test link that includes the countdown to the event start.
A Custom Countdown will be a placeholder until the event.
A temporary page will hold your branding, event information, and countdown to when it starts. A video trailer for the event can be used to keep excitement high; sending your own, commission one from us, or use a generic Amik Sponsored live event video.

Time for the online event
Your event goes online as planned
and all customers are sent a new email with a link to the livestreamed event. Everyone gets to enjoy what you worked so hard to produce.
The ticket is secure for you and the user.
The link is one time use so you know that people aren't sharing it around without purchasing a ticket from you. And everything is streamed through our VPN and custom player to ensure data security for everyone.
